Packing the bags

Is it just me, or does everybody else also have issues when it comes to putting clothes into a bag to go away for a week? How difficult can it be to pack 7 days worth of clothes, toiletries and one or two other things, without making it look and feel like you’ve packed your bags with lead bricks? To make matters worse, we’re taking half the amazon with us in paperwork too. Ok, so the clothing issue can soon be resolved. It just requires some organisation with tick lists (we love a good tick list).

We’re going to Slovenia on our first buying mission tomorrow. Excited? Yes. Nervous? Yes. Worried about forgetting something? Yes – and forgetting your toothbrush isn’t the end of the world. Forgetting the rainforest might be.

So how, you may ask, have we come to carrying so much paper? How difficult can it be to rock up, drink some wine, shake hands and take a few pictures? Well, there’s a bit more to it than that. Here’s what we have, for each wine:

A three-page tasting sheet, one for Anja and one for myself for each wine. We comment on the appearance, the nose, palate and all other observations so we can write detailed descriptions on each wine

A winery check sheet – a 6 page document for each winery, where all the technical data is recorded and where we carry out checks for the government

And then we have all the hotel bookings / plane tickets etc.

It has become so serious, that Anja has booked us a bag to put into the hold to come back with…
